Ways teeth can be straightened
Clear aligners
A sequence of removable transparent trays worn for most of the day and changed periodically. Less visible than braces, though results depend heavily on wearing them as directed. Not every case can be treated this way.
Braces
Fixed brackets and wires that stay in place for the course of treatment. Often appropriate for more complex movements. Requires adjustment appointments and careful cleaning.
Retainers
Teeth tend to drift after treatment. Retainers hold the corrected position and are part of every orthodontic plan, not an optional extra.
More detail on our orthodontics page. Payment plan options are set out on our payment plans page.
All treatment carries risks as well as benefits, and outcomes vary between patients. Suitability is determined only after an individual clinical assessment. This page is general information, not a diagnosis or a recommendation for your circumstances.
Frequently asked questions
Who is the session for?
Adults and parents of children or teenagers who are considering orthodontic treatment and want to understand the options before booking a consultation. New and existing patients are both welcome.
Is this a consultation?
No. It is an education session. There is no examination, diagnosis or treatment plan, and no obligation to proceed with anything.
What options are covered?
Clear aligners, conventional braces and retainers, what each asks of you day to day, and the concerns each approach tends to suit.
Will you tell me which treatment I need?
Not at the session. Which approach is appropriate depends on an individual clinical assessment, including imaging, and that happens at a consultation rather than a group session.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
It varies considerably depending on what is being corrected, from several months to a couple of years. The session explains the factors that affect treatment time.
How do I register?
Complete the registration form on this page, or call reception on (03) 5278 2666. We will contact you with the date and details of the next session.
