Orthodontics for every age & stage.

Crooked, crowded or protruding teeth affect how a smile looks — and how it works. Orthodontic treatment may help straighten teeth and improve the bite, with options suited to the individual after a clinical assessment.

Orthodontics

People of any age can benefit from orthodontic treatment.

Teeth that are crooked, crowded or that stick out can affect the way your teeth look and work. Orthodontic treatment is designed to improve not only the appearance of your smile, but your dental health as well — straighter teeth are generally easier to clean, and may be less likely to develop tooth decay or damage.

If you are not happy with the way your teeth look or work, orthodontic treatment may help. The right approach depends on your teeth, your goals and a clinical assessment — and every plan is discussed with you, in writing, before anything begins. Individual results vary.

    Braces & aligners

There are different types of braces and aligners, suitable for both adults and children. The right option depends on your teeth, your goals and a clinical assessment.

    Invisible · Removable

    Invisalign® clear aligners

A series of custom-made, removable aligners made from a virtually invisible material, designed to move teeth gradually into position. Invisalign® treatment uses SMARTForce® features as part of its planning. Worn over the teeth and removed for eating and cleaning.

    N° 02
    Tooth-coloured

    Ceramic (cosmetic) bracess

The same size and shape as metal braces, but with tooth-coloured or clear brackets that blend in more with the teeth. Some options also use tooth-coloured wires to be even less noticeable.

    Conventional metal braces

The metal brackets and archwires most people picture when they hear the word "braces." Modern brackets are smaller and less obvious than older designs; archwires are designed to move teeth gradually.

    Why it matters

    Why your bite matters.

The position of your teeth and jaws affects your bite — how your upper and lower teeth come together. When the upper and lower teeth don't meet together properly, this is called a malocclusion, or a "bad bite."

Missing, crooked, crowded or protruding teeth can contribute to a bad bite, and habits such as thumb-sucking may also play a part. A bad bite can make some foods harder to chew and may contribute to teeth wearing down over time, as well as muscle tension. Teeth that stick out can chip or break more easily, and crowded or crooked teeth are harder to keep clean — which may make cavities and gum problems more likely. Addressing a bad bite is something we assess for each person individually.

    Adults welcome too

Orthodontic treatment isn't only for children — around one in four orthodontic patients is over the age of 21.

    Under one roof

    A considered, step-by-step approach.

Every orthodontic journey at Norlane begins with an assessment, not an assumption. Here is the general shape of how treatment tends to progress.

    01.

    Consultation & assessment

We examine your teeth, bite and jaws, and talk through your concerns and goals. This is where suitability and possible options are assessed.

    02.

    Records & planning

Where appropriate, we take images and records to help plan treatment, and explain the options, likely timeframe, risks and costs — in writing.

    03.

    Active treatment

If you decide to proceed, braces or aligners are fitted and adjusted over time, with regular reviews. Some soreness can be expected after fitting and adjustments.

    04.

    Retention & care

After active treatment, retainers help hold teeth in their new position. Good daily braces care supports your result.
