Pain is a signal worth listening to.

One of the most common dental emergencies is toothache or dental pain. When you have a toothache, your daily activities are affected. Eating can be difficult, causing you to lose your appetite and experience headaches.

Toothache may be sharp, dull or throbbing, or triggered by hot, cold or biting. Pain that lingers, wakes you at night, or comes with swelling or fever can indicate infection and should be checked promptly.

Pain relief can help in the short term, but the underlying cause usually needs treatment to stop it returning.

Over-the-counter drugs offer quick relief, but relief that won’t last for long.

After a couple of hours, you’re stuck with a toothache again. What you really need is a lasting and effective solution.

Norlane Dental Aesthetics & Implants offers dental solutions to make sure your toothache doesn’t return.

First Aid for Toothache

In case of toothache or dental pain, here’s what you can do:

Brush your teeth!

Make sure there are no food particles stuck in the mouth. To remove the food debris, brush your teeth and floss gently, especially in the affected area.
Apply a cold compress

If you notice any swelling, try soothing it with a cold compress for some instant relief!
Pain relievers

Take over-the-counter pain relievers, but do not give aspirin to those below 18 years old. Never put aspirin directly on your aching tooth or the gums surrounding it.
