What brushing can’t reach, a clean can.
Plaque that is not removed hardens into calculus, also called tartar. Tartar sticks firmly to the teeth, often along and just under the gum line, and can only be removed with professional instruments.
A regular scale and clean, usually together with a check-up, helps keep your gums healthy and makes it easier to catch decay or gum disease early, while treatment is simpler.

How often
How often should you have a clean?
Many people benefit from a check-up and clean every six to twelve months. If you have a history of gum disease, wear braces, smoke or have certain health conditions, your dentist may suggest more frequent visits.

Check-in
We update your medical history and ask about any concerns, sensitivity or changes since your last visit.

Examination
Your dentist examines your teeth, gums and mouth, and takes X-rays only where they are clinically needed.

Scaling
Plaque and tartar are gently removed from the tooth surfaces, including along the gum line.
04.
Polish and fluoride
Teeth are polished to remove surface stains, and fluoride may be applied to help strengthen enamel.
